Staff were really nice and accommodating. The Classic room we were in had a comfortable bed, a window you could open for some fresh air, a nice wardrobe that lit up as well as an area to make drinks/store food, and included a mini bar fridge. Appreciated the complimentary carton of blue UHT milk. :) There was a fan in the room as well as two heaters, so it was well equipped for the seasons. They did take up a lot of room though. There was a lamp and an armchair around a small table with a copy of Kia Ora magazine, and a QR code you could scan to look up the hotel amenities. The bathroom included a hair dryer; and hand wash, body wash, shampoo and conditioner in pump bottles which feels more sustainable than individual small bottles/sachets. The rate included continental breakfast which was adequate - there were hot pastries, white bread you could pop in a conveyor toast belt, assorted individual spreads like marmite/jam/butter/peanut butter, fruit salad, 3 kinds of cereals, milk/yogurt, brewed coffee, and hot water to make up tea/hot chocolate. There were a couple of fruit juices and cold water as well. And for $18 you could upgrade to a hot breakfast (didn't look closely at the menu but there were options like eggs benedict) The hotel grounds are established and looks nice with many big trees and assorted flora. Nice to have a heated 27 degree pool, as well as a tennis court to use as you wish. You can get towels for the pool at reception for no charge - you just need to sign your name in and out along with your room number. There are many black and white photos on the walls showing the history of Hanmer Springs.

Set in beautiful grounds, very peaceful, gardens and a heated swimming pool. Convenient location in the heart of the village but set back so very quiet. We stayed in the garden rooms which are not part of the main hotel. They were small but comfortable. The bed was large and the bathroom had a shower over bath, hair dryer and complementary shampoo and conditioner. There was also a table and chairs outside for sitting and enjoying the garden. The fridge in the room had milk, and there was a kettle and tea, coffee, chocolate and non caffeine teas (no cookies though 🤣). They had MUGS in the room not those crappy tiny cups you sometimes get, bonus! Plus wine glasses and glasses for other child drinks. The breakfast was continental with the option to upgrade to a cooked breakfast. It included cereals, mixed fruit, yogurt, croissants and danish pastries, toast, tea, coffee, juices. We had dinner in the hotel the night before, which was beautiful. The dinner portions were huge so we didn't need a big breakfast! We also used the heated swimming pool which was lovely. The hotel provided towels too and also can provide towels for the hot pools. Car park in site.

Got a lovely 1st impression of the hotel when driving In, looked lush and luxurious like big mansion type of feeling. When entering the hotel, it was vintage red carpets and old stair case with old photos of the building on the walls, cute Christmas decor & lovely lit Christmas trees. our hotel host was a kind man who helped us take our luggage up to our room, room was okay for 3, our bed & sofa bed was already made& we were given a portacot for the toddler. We folded the sofa bed up so our toddler could safely navigate the room without the steel frames of the sofa bed hurting him. We had 2 fans and a large window open but was not enough to minimise the heat in this room. We loved the gardens & the pools and they are definitely a highlight to our stay!!! We also dined at Isobel’s restaurant which was lovely , ambiance was moderate and large dining windows to look at all the well gardened outdoors from different angles. Was a lovely stay overall

Very attractive hotel and gardens. We stayed in one of their rooms in the gardens and near to the swimming pool and tennis court. The hotel is in the heart of Hanmer Springs with everything in walking distance. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and it was very good. The continental breakfast included in the very reasonable price we paid, was also very good. Staff were helpful and friendly

Steve

Loved the room we had - our own wee courtyard! Great sized room and bathroom and a very handy location. Beautiful facilities and great breakfast. I'd love to visit again and have a proper look at all the old photos on the corridors. The grounds are fabulous and great to see some work being done on the exterior.
